Hotels Rock!

hotel picSo! I’m in a hotel! This is seriously the most fun I’ve had in a while. (I love hotels, really, they are so much fun!) I don’t know if it’s the smell of chlorine in the pool, lingering throughout the building, the wild patters of commercial carpeting, the pristine and purely functional layout of the rooms, or possibly a combination of all of these and more. That sense of temporary perfection, right before you throw all your junk in. (Or if you happen have OCD, like me, you organize everything by function, color, and material into their proper drawers) ūüėČ I am not ashamed. But seriously, there’s a desk, and a lamp with two outlets (IN IT!) and Subway gave me this cool bag thing for Disney’s¬†The Good Dinosaur with my kids meal, AND I have a cookie!¬†I am a very happy person.

Anyway, I’m¬†here for¬†my brother’s soccer tournament, partly to be supportive,¬†partly to get away from school-life, and partly because I love hotels…I¬†know it’s weird, but wow I love hotels!¬†OK, enough¬†with that (I may have had a little too much caffeine today… maybe…)

Today is about writing essays, relearning how to knit (I have a project), and catching up with my blog. Oh my poor blog, how I have neglected you! …oops…

I should have a sculpture update soon, too! I had two projects I sculpted in wax and we poured the bronze for them last night. Unfortunately,¬†and¬†I didn’t know it until after the fact, when one of my invested pieces was being loaded into the kiln to burn out the wax, it took about a four foot leap to the floor. The outside didn’t look toooooo bad…so maybe it made it. I won’t know for sure until I break out the bronze piece on Monday.

Just FYI, if you are interested in finding out more about the process which¬†I have so inadequately described above, you can check out this Wikipedia Page and scroll down to the “Lost Wax Method” section.¬†That article is a petty close description of the processes¬†I’ve been using this semester.

Well, I’m back to writing an art history¬†essay on 19th Century Fashion (Whoopee!) … OK, I actually like writing and research…I’m such a boring person…

Have a happy day!!!
